Eagle vs Chicken Mentality-Which Do You Have?

Eagle Mentality vs Chicken Mentality-Which do you have?

Have you’ve ever encountered a person with enormous potential to produce greatness? As a Life Guidance Mentor, I encounter this frequently. Recently, I’ve come to realize; some people have eagle potential, but a chicken mind. They are well equipped to reach maximum levels of success, but they have determined within themselves to stay in a safe place of comfort. It’s like they are playing a game of hide and seek. Greatness keeps looking for them, but they hide. They hide behind fake pretentious business “Oh I’ll be out of town”, or “I don’t have enough time”, or “Next time I will”, or “Only if I had…” Their mentality keeps them in the chicken coop; a mentality of excuses to remain scratching in the dirt; to remain in mediocrity.

The eagle mentality soars high going beyond the call of duty. It does not believe in impossibilities. It defies all reason and logic; taking bold risks without the fear of failure. The eagle realizes if it begins to dive all it has to do is open its wings and it will fly. Eliminating all blocks to success and willing to go through any test. The eagle refuses to remain on the ground because it sets its aim among the clouds. Each and everyday the eagle intentionally says, “I will be amongst the clouds”. –Speaking Above Mediocrity™

The eagle befriended the chicken. He saw the chicken’s potential. He desperately wanted the chicken to fly. The eagle did not understand the mentality of a chicken. What’s interesting about the chicken; he cheered the eagle on to fly and even desired to fly himself, but he was afraid to try. The eagle would encourage the chicken to fly and at times even visited him in his chicken’s coop. Then one day the eagle had to part ways with the chicken. The altitude and places that the eagle dared to venture, unfortunately the chicken’s mentality kept the chicken in the coop with other like minded individuals. “Birds of a feather flock together.” Watch the company you keep. [coop- a place of mediocrity]

The eagle was somewhat sad for the chicken. However, having an eagle’s mentality is to know when to let those who chooses to remain in a state of bareness; go. An eagle, because of their mind at times has to fly solo. Greatness will take you to places where others dare or not permitted to go. Allow your thoughts to take you to heights of greatness.
